Retro golden age game mobile portings have always been famous for being released anywhere else but Europe. Metal gear 1&2, Final Fantasy 1&2, and seemingly before crisis never made it here. What have they got against us? Basically, we should thank our lucky stars that Megaman decided to stay. And, he's making the most of it...

The mobile version of Megaman is seemingly an exact, and I mean exact, copy of the NES (*sigh*?Nintendo Entertainment System) version, released way back in 1987. And it's still as playable.

Fans of the megaman series will be delighted to find that the game is entirely in 8-bit graphic!! Yes! All of it!! This particular feature enhances the game's nostalgic feeling. The soundtrack, also, is taken directly from the NES original. I find myself thinking it's only fair that this was released on MIDP 2.0 mobiles only. Older handsets could not have handled such a complex polyphonic score.

The game reuses the retro layout, featuring only six levels. Younger gamers will not remember that in the original, megaman had to fight six bosses, each in their own worlds: Cutman, with his razor sharp claws; Gutsman, with his massive throwing boulders; Iceman, with his sub-zero attacks; Bombman, with his explosive personality; Fireman; the most famous of the six; and Elecman. This game is no different. In each level, you will have to fight minions themed to the boss at the end of the level; for example, on the Fireman level, you are likely to face minions who use fire as their main ability.

What's more, every level is replayable, and upon completion of a certain level, you will get that level's boss' power as a weapon. For example- You begin with the normal megaman suit, blue in colour, and plasma bullet gun for a weapon. When you complete the first level (cutman), you will get a razor cutter (a boomerang-type weapon which can be used to attack enemies higher than you) and a new dark grey suit. Of course, when you complete the game, you can cycle through any weapon/suit set you like.

As for level design, that, too, is taken straight from the original. Expect nothing added, nothing taken away from this, megaman fans.
